What happens when families grow in faith together?

“The family that prays together stays together. Family prayer is the greatest deterrent to sin, and hence the most beneficent provider of joy and happiness.”
— President Thomas S. Monson

When families read the Bible together, talk about its meaning, apply it to their lives, and pray for one another, something powerful begins to happen.

Three families from De Doorns, Western Cape, recently attended Petra Institute’s Me and My House family course. This is not just another programme — there is no heavy preparation required, and everyone learns practical skills they can apply at home. Even children can lead their family through the process.

The Veiwer family shared how the course impacted them:

Dad Ricardo: “We realised that each one in the family is unique, yet contributes in a specific way. We help one another and complement each other through our unique gifts.”

Valentino: “We got to know one another better and became comfortable with one another.”

Gevandré: “Like a rainbow with different colours, we are different, but in our individual uniqueness, we need one another to be a healthy family.”

Mom Germania: “The Listening Mouse helped us to actively listen to one another and better understand each other’s emotions and needs. We learned many values and intentionally apply them in our family.”

Their family Scripture is Romans 15:13:

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

When families grow together in God’s Word, they grow closer to Him — and to one another. 💛
