The DNA of Petra Institute is to train for multiplication. By equipping tutors who train others to train yet others, we increase the workforce of our partners –
giving many more children the opportunity to meet and follow Christ.
This course is designed to equip facilitators for either the Entering the World of Children, Helping Children Grow in Faith, Entering the World of Families, Walking with Wounded Children courses or Advocacy Workshops.
Aim of the Course
Petra Institute believes in multiplication. This is made possible by an ongoing process of equipping facilitators for all our courses/workshops. We call the facilitators ‘tutors’.
Tutors are equipped to:
- Help develop the values, skills and knowledge of their learners
- Apply adult learning principles
- Apply principles and skills of facilitation
- Develop needs-based and outcome based programs and processes
- Apply the experiential learning cycle and assessment tools and methods
- Conduct courses under our supervision
Lecture-discussion, individual and group study, demonstration, role-play and learning by doing.
Tutor training is only available to participants who completed the particular relational children’s ministry course, with proven experience in the relevant skills and fitting the general requirements for tutorship.
What participants say about the course
“I learnt how to build relationships with both children and children’s workers. Children’s ministry is no more just about conveying knowledge; within deeper relationships, faith is transferred. Our children’s workers share that they have received life skills, which impact life on all levels – even outside of children’s ministry.”
Rev. Susan Booth
“Why would we expect that solutions developed in one context would work the same in another? We are friends learning together. You know the content, they know the context.”
