Petra College is an interdenominational Christian training college committed to the equipping and mobilizing of leaders in children’s ministry. It was established on 1 April 1989 and has its administrative centre and main campus at Petra Mountain just outside the town of White River, in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. The college also has a satellite campus at De Doorns, Western Cape province, where the Children’s Ministry Foundations Course and other shorter courses are presented.

Petra College offers training in different aspects of children’s ministry. This training is done within the framework of partnerships, using relevant and effective training resources, through an extensive system of mentorship and backed by dedicated prayer. Training is offered on basic, advanced and academic levels. It is provided by an extensive team of mentors from various professions, countries and confessional backgrounds. The College has set itself the task of providing general training in key aspects of leadership in children’s ministry. In addition, it has developed expertise in training people for working with children in disadvantaged situations.
