Why training in partnerships?
- Petra College cannot fulfil its vision (to extend the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ to the children of Africa and beyond) on its own. Therefore, we work in partnership with churches and organisations, sharing gifts, expertise and means to accomplish this mutual goal.
- Churches/Christian organisations have a need for their children’s ministry workers to be better equipped in children’s ministry skills, practical experience, teaching and leadership skills so that they can minister more effectively to children and maintain proper management and development of their children’s ministry. Petra College can provide the training services for this purpose.
- Petra College does not have the human resources to fulfil its own vision, but by equipping members of churches/Christian organisations in children’s ministry, who are available and have a calling to minister to children, a work force is being build up in the respective countries of students that can reach out to children.
- To help with the need for ministry to the ± 360 million children in Africa under the age of 15, leaders who can train others (2 Tim 2:2) need to be trained. In this strategy, Petra College does not duplicate itself in other countries – rather, it equips leaders and mentors on national level who can, independently from the college, train their own leaders for children’s ministry in their own culture and context, by using our training material.
